The Spanish-Polish Mathematical Meeting, Lodz 2023 is a joint initiative of Polskie Towarzystwo Matematyczne (PTM = Polish Mathematical Society)) and three Spanish societies: Real Sociedad Matematica Espanola (RSME), Sociedad Espanola de Matematica Aplicada and Societat Catalana de Matematiques (SCM).
The Spanish-Polish Mathematical Meeting is a multi-profile international mathematical conference. As part of the congress, plenary papers by internationally renowned mathematicians from Spain and Poland, a wide range of thematic sessions, discussion panels and informal meetings are planned. The main objectives of the ES-PL are to strengthen Polish-Spanish cooperation in the field of mathematics and its applications, and to promote mathematics in the external environment.
The conference is not periodic, but it implements the programme of joint meetings of Polish mathematicians with mathematicians from other countries (USA 2007, Israel 2011, Germany 2014, Italy 2018). The official language of the conference is English.
We are planning sixteen plenary papers and papers in seventeen thematic sections. We anticipate the participation of three hundred to four hundred mathematicians. Thus, the Spanish-Polish Mathematical Meeting has a chance to be the largest mathematical conference in Poland in 2023
– Dr Maciej Czarnecki, President of the Lodz Branch of PTM, one of the organisers of the ES-PL.
The sessions are taking place at the University of Lodz (Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and Faculty of Management), as well as at the Lodz University of Technology (Faculty of Technical Physics, Information Technology and Applied Mathematics and Faculty of Chemistry).
An online broadcast is planned for the plenary papers, enabling the participation of all those interested, also those from outside the mathematical community. Fragments of the recordings of the papers will be made available on social media.
Polskie Towarzystwo Matematyczne (PTM), which is a public benefit organisation existing since 1919 is the main organiser. Its statutory objectives include supporting mathematical research and applications of mathematics as well as popularisation of mathematics. Co-organisers include the University of Lodz and Lodz University of Technology.
The patrons include Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Mayor of the City of Lodz, Rector of the University of Lodz, Rector of the Lodz University of Technology.
